Review of Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant

The recent fad has been the attempt to lower the amount of Aluminum in our bodies and for the most part people are doing that by using aluminum free deodorant. Some people are choosing to not use deodorant at all (Matthew McConaughey ) or using a deodorant with lower amounts of aluminum. I have recently tried for three weeks Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant which is Aluminum Free and Paraben Free. I tried the unscented deodorant but when applied it had a strong scent of lemon. It is summer time and I naturally have ability to sweat a lot. I usually use an anti-persperant which does a good job for 7-8 hours. I am reviewing a deodorant which is not meant to do as good of a job as an anti-persperant. Arm & Hammers Essentials Deodorant worked as well as other deodorants I have used that do contain aluminum but that is about 6-7 hours compaired to 7-8 hours of using a anit-persperant.
In the end I think it was worth using. If you know you are going to be sweating more than normal it may not be the best choice but deep a backup for those days.

Overall I gave this a rating of 8 out of 10 because it is easy to make the change without losing much.

Master Cleanse Detox Diet Review

I took a large amount of time off after finishing the Master Cleanse Detox Diet Plan because I didn't want to be overly biased by what I just went through. So, now with a level head I feel the Master Cleanse Detox Plan is good and bad but first I have to comment on the detox element. There are many ways to detox your body and each will be beneficial for certain parts of your body. Master Cleanse is good at detoxing your colon and stomach. Many people should work on helping their liver, there are various methods I believe dandlion is good for that. For your skin I have heard it is beneficial to take more baths and baths with epsom salts. Many toxins are stored in your fat cells and therefore losing weight is beneficial for that. Don't eat highly processed foods, artificial flavors, artificial colors, etc to start with. Last deodorants are starting to contain more and more aluminum, use a deodorant with low aluminum.
How healthy is this plan?
It is beneficial to lose that extra weight but any diet that is missing multiple food groups can not be very healthy. The ingredients are cayenne pepper, lemons, maple syrup. You lose out on dairy, breads, meats etc. So many people see extremely skinny people and see that as being healthy - it's not but also being 300lbs and not very muscular is unhealthy also.
I would not recommend this plan as a diet plan. I do recommend this as a detox plan but only for 10 days, after that I don't believe the detoxing benefits warrant the continuing of the plan.

Ease of Use 3 out of 10 due to the fact it is difficult to get by not having any solid food.

Effectiveness 8 out of 10 because you do lose weight and detox your colon effectively

Healthiness 3 out of 10 due to the fact this is one of the most unhealthy diets I have ever tried.

Overall Rating of 4 out of 10 eventhough this is effective it is just to unhealthy and was the most difficult diet plans I have every tried.

Master Cleanse Detox Diet Day 8, 9 & 10

On days 8, 9, & 10 I couldn't drink the lemonade mixture much and as a result I was extremely tired and hungry. I seemed to dislike the cayenne pepper more and more every day. When I was awake I did feel somewhat good, in that I felt good because losing all that weight in ten days makes you feel pretty good. I also feel almost superhuman knowing that this is possible. I didn't think I would be able to survive.
On the last day I ate some food and it took about two hours and I was feeling much better. I should not have made my first meal Taco Bell but I was craving it for the last week.

Master Cleanser Detox Diet Day 4 & 5

Well the last two days have been tough. I am completely sick of the cayenne pepper. I have no energy and I am having troubles even drinking the right amount of water and lemonade, syrup, cayenne pepper mix. Partially because of the pepper and partially because the taste of the lemonade. I am forcing myself to drink it just to have some energy to function.
It is hard to believe I have gone 5 days without food. It is kind of liberating knowing that this is possible, that peoples bodies can endure such a low amount of caloric intake. It makes you wonder about all the times that you think you need to eat to stay alive. Your body can handle so little. It is amazing how many food commercials are on TV. I have cut back on watching TV but I still need to prepare meals for my children which is difficult once you smell the food.

Master Cleanse Frequently Asked Questions #1

Peter Glickman answers some questions.

Master Cleanser Detox, Diet Day 3

On the Master Cleanse Detox plan you are supposed to take it easy. The reason of course is that you are not taking in much for calories and you don't feel like doing much. I had plans already though to go water skiing and really overexerted myself. At the time I was not hungry and once I got going felt like I had a lot of energy but at night I had major cravings and was starving. I fell asleep from 6:30pm - 7:30pm and woke up drank a bit and fell asleep for the night.

Master Cleanser Detox, Diet Review Day 2

It's the second day of the Master Cleanser Detox plan it is also referred to as the lemonade diet. I took senna tea before bed last night. Senna is a herb that is a strong laxative. In the morning I took a mixture of salt and water that helps flush out your colon. The reason is that the salt water mixture is close to the consistency of blood so that it passes though the colon without being absorbed. This really got things moving today.
After one and a half days of not eating it is amazing how much a person can handle. I am realizing the difference between cravings and hunger. In the book "Lose Weight, Have More Energy & Be Happier in 10 Days" Peter Glickman says only one person out of twenty is actually hungry everyone else just has cravings. I had a lot of cravings but I did get hungry. I thought I would be hungry all day but it came in waves and I definitely had much more cravings then hunger. I can't believe two days without food. Peter said that people crave what food is in the fat cells that they are burning off. I don't believe that because I had cravings for Taco Bell and I haven't eaten Taco Bell in such a long time. I usually would never crave Taco Bell - it's weird.
I am getting really drained and just want to sleep. Yesterday I went to bed around 9:30 and I usually go to bed around midnight or 1:00am.

Master Cleanser Detox, Diet Review Day 1

I started the Master Cleanser Detox/Diet plan. I will drink for the most part a mixture of lemons, maple syrup, cayenne pepper mix for ten days. The ingredients are:

2 tbsp. (1fl. oz.) of fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice,

2 tbsp. (1fl. oz.) of grade B organic maple syrup,

1/10th tsp. of cayenne pepper and

8 fl. oz of spring or purified water.

This mixture is the main substanance during the detox you can also drink just water if hungry. I made this mixture this morning and it was actually really good. The cayenne pepper was great the first drink but the rest of the day it seemed a bit hot. It is recommended though that you do not cut back on the amount of cayenne pepper.
The other components to this plan are taking senna tea at night before bed. This is a laxative that is meant to clean out your colon as fast as possible and it sounds like most people stop having solid bowel movements by the third day. In the morning you then drink salt water which also flushes out the system.
I was not hungry most the day and had very little in the way of cravings. It is going pretty good so far. I did not take the senna tea last night but will tonight.

Master Cleanser Detox Diet Video

A good how to video on how to get started and do the Master Cleanser Detox / Diet plan.

Master Cleanser Detox/Diet Review

Next I will be reviewing the Master Cleanser detox and diet plan. I am basing this plan on the Book by Peter Glickman's book Lose Weight, Have More Energy, and Be Happier in 10 Days. On the surface this title consists of all the bit buzz words in diet to the point that it is almost comical.
The Lemonade Diet (also called Master Cleanse) is a short-term, cleansing diet that is similar to a juice fast in many ways. While you are following the diet (10 to 40 days), your sole source of energy and nutrients is a lemonade made with fresh-squeezed lemon juice, purified (non-fluoridated) water, grade-B maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. In addition, each morning, you drink a salt-water flush, and each evening you drink a laxative tea. The only other beverages allowed on the Lemonade Diet are pure (non-fluoridated) water and peppermint tea.
There is a strict regimen for ending the diet, beginning with fresh-squeezed citrus juices for approximately 36 hours, and then gradually moving to raw vegetables and fruits or to cooked vegetable soups over the course of three to five days after ending the regime.

What Does It Do?

The goal of the diet is to rest the digestive tract, cleanse the system of impurities, mobilize and eliminate toxins stored in various areas of the body, and burn excess fat stores.

History

The diet was first explained by Stanley Burroughs in The Master Cleanser, first published in 1976. It has been revived in recent years with the publication of Peter Glickman's book Lose Weight, Have More Energy, and Be Happier in 10 Days, first published in 2004, and revised and expanded for a second edition in 2005.

An extensive website and bulletin board support group for those following the Lemonade Diet has popularized the diet, and there is a large group of people who do the 10-day diet each January. The bulletin board can be found here.

Raw Food adherents often use the Lemonade Diet to start or augment their raw lifestyle.

Side Effects

The first few days of the program can be tough. Like any other fast-type diet, learning to get along without your normal amount of food is difficult. And, like any juice fast, learning to get along without solid food can be a tremendous challenge.

In addition, because this diet is a cleansing fast, there are "detox" symptoms that may occur, including headaches, nausea and vomiting, cravings, fatigue and irritability. Most of these symptoms are short-lived. On rare occasions, they may be so severe that the dieter has to end the diet early.

Medical Considerations

Because it represents a tremendous change in eating habits, persons who wish to try it would be wise to discuss it with their physician first. In particular, individuals taking long-term medication that cannot be safely discontinued for the duration of the diet need to consult with their physician. The doctor may wish to monitor the dieter to ensure that the change in dietary habits does not alter the effects of the medication.

Persons who have followed the diet have reported changes in blood-pressure, blood-sugar / insulin levels, and depression, all of which required alteration of their normal dose of medication for these conditions.

Health Warnings

Persons following the Lemonade Diet should follow it exactly as written, and, ideally, under the supervision of their personal physician. Individuals should also be attuned to their body's signals that it is time to transition back to eating. The recommended 10 days is sufficient for most people; higher numbers of days would not be recommended unless the person were under a physician's care and had become accustomed to shorter-term fasts.

Drink at least the minimum amount of the lemonade each day; Burroughs and Glickman both state that one should drink 6 to 12 glasses of the lemonade per day. With 100 calories per 2 tablespoons of Grade B maple syrup, and 8 calories per 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and 1 calories per 1/6 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, each drink provides approximately 109 calories. Thus, it would be important to drink 11 to 12 glasses per day to ensure that at least 1200 calories were consumed.

To guard against dehydration, water should also be taken throughout the cleanse. Many cleansers drink a glass of water between glasses of lemonade.

Persons who wish to follow this program more than once a year are advised to wait three to six months between stints; the longer the time on the diet, the longer one should wait to repeat it. Three months between 10-day stints is the minimum recommended interval.

About the Books

For those wishing to explore this diet, Glickman's book is recommended as the one that is easier to read and more user-friendly. Burroughs's book, while thorough, is not laid out with the modern reader in mind, and can be confusing and overly technical. Burroughs' writing style is also quite pedantic, which some readers find alienating. Glickman's book is well-organized, informal in style, and less technical in nature. It is also replete with anecdotes from those who have followed the Lemonade Diet, along with suggestions and observations for those who are new to the concept.

Other Resources

Although it is not necessary to buy a kit in order to undertake the Lemonade Diet, many of those who follow the diet, especially first-timers, find that the kits simplify the preparation process. While the local health food supermarket or organic foods store may have all of the ingredients, it is often more convenient to simply order a ready-made kit.

Several companies have "Lemonade Diet" or "Master Cleanse" kits available for those who wish to follow the Lemonade Diet. These kits generally include everything except the water and lemons. Three such sites are: The RawFoodSite.com (Peter Glickman's site), Humblebee Health.com , TheLemonadeDiet.com

The concern with the Lemonade Diet is its lack of nutrition. As stated, the sole source of energy and nutrients of this diet is obtained from lemon juice, water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. The laxative tea replaces dietary fiber, but is not the form the body prefers. Most importantly, any eating plan that does not supply an average of 1200 calories a day is not safe or supportive of optimal health.

The impact of this diet on the intestinal system is intense. This is not kept a secret. However, there are other ways of cleansing the body without suffering from the enormity of stomach pain and diarrhea reported on this program. Dehydration is a definite side effect and one that requires constant monitoring. Dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fever, headaches, blurred vision and fatigue are a few of the symptoms of dehydration.

It is doubtful that any medical professional would recommend or support the undertaking of this regime. Most importantly, this program is not intended for weight loss purposes. It needs to be seen and utilized strictly for detoxification. It is also strongly suggested from medical experts that these types of diets be followed for a minimal length of time, if any. Forty days of the Lemonade Diet is not recommended for any one.

One final note: The Lemonade Diet should be called by its original title: The Master Cleanse. Any program with “diet” in its title provokes the idea of the newest weight loss trend. This diet is no exception as perennial dieters seek the latest ways to shed unwanted pounds. The fact is lemons are not magical fat-burners. The only reason for weight loss with the Lemonade Diet is the unfavorable breakdown of muscle and fat stores in order to sustain our highly active bodily systems, as well as the depletion of our water stores.
